Coplay: St. John’s will hold shepherd’s pie takeout dinner Oct. 9

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., is holding a shepherd’s pie takeout dinner 4-5:30 p.m. Oct. 9. Donations benefit the church renovation fund.

St. John’s will also hold its Kerygma program 6:30 p.m. Oct. 10 and 24 in the church social hall. The topic is The Ten Commandments.

All are invited to attend.

The Coplay Saengerbund’s Sunday polka events continue, weather permitting, at the 205 S. Fifth St. site. The Jolly Bavarians will perform 3 p.m. Oct. 10.

Gates open 2 p.m.

There will be a Weinlesefest (grape dance) 3-6 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Saengerbund. Gates open 2 p.m.

Emil Schanta Band will perform. There will be a selection of wines, delicious food, singalongs, special dances and great music. It is open to the public, and there is a small cover charge.

The Saengerbund is planning a Halloween event Oct. 29. Common Bond will perform. Gates open 5 p.m.

Coplay Cemetery Association’s next meeting is 11:45 a.m. Oct. 10 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St.

The annual Coplay Halloween parade is set for 7 p.m. Oct. 19.

Coplay American Legion Post 426 has a special mailbox in front of the Post at 134 S. Second St.

Old, worn-out flags can be deposited into the mailbox for proper disposal.

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 3 S. Fifth St., plans to offer companion niche ossuariums to church members for placement of remains at the cemetery on Hokendauqua Street.

They are slated to be offered in February 2022 and are touted as less costly than a casket burial. More information is to come.

Coplay Food Bank is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

The food bank is located in the lower level of the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.

If unable to attend the Tuesday-morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

Coplay Athletic Club is seeking new and renewal members.

The gym is located on the second floor of the municipal building.

A gym membership costs $90 per year and $70 for renewals.

The weekly yard waste and leaf pickup continues every Friday by the borough’s sanitation crew. Electronics recycling and other items can be dropped off at DCR Technologies, 205 Main St., Northampton.
