Theft of motor vehicle
State troopers found a damaged vehicle parked illegally in the 4600 block of North Hedgerow Drive, Lower Macungie Township, 9:05 a.m. Aug. 30, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. Investigators learned the vehicle, a black 2014 Acura RDX sport utility vehicle, was reported stolen from Allentown city. The vehicle was returned to its owner.
Identity theft
A resident of Fairway Lane, Lower Macungie Township, discovered her personal information was used to fraudulently open an unemployment claim, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The incident was reported Sept. 21.
A resident of Tuscany Drive, Lower Macungie Township, discovered her personal information was used to attempt to open a fraudulent unemployment account, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The incident was reported Sept. 13.
Accidents
Five people were hurt in a two-vehicle accident resulting in one vehicle rolling onto its roof along U.S. Route 100, Lower Macungie Township, 5:31 p.m. Sept. 7, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. A 2021 Mazda CX-3 sport utility vehicle was traveling north when the motorist drifted into the opposing lane and struck a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban, which was traveling south. The Chevrolet toppled, landing in the southbound lane. The driver and both passengers in the Mazda as well as the driver and passenger in the Chevrolet were transported by Macungie EMS for further evaluation. The Lower Macungie Fire Department and Stew’s Tire Center also responded.
A Pottstown motorist escaped injury when his vehicle struck a utility pole, snapping the pole and pulling down active electrical power lines, in an accident on Chestnut Street, Upper Milford Township, 7:20 p.m. Sept. 2, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The motorist was southbound on Chestnut Street, slightly south of Batman Drive when he allegedly looked away from the road to check his GPS navigation. The vehicle went off the road and struck the pole before hitting an embankment and shrubbery. The accident damaged the front bumper, rear windshield and passenger side of the vehicle. Crews from PPL Utilities, Upper Milford Township Fire Department and Detwiler’s Towing also responded.
An Allentown motorist was hurt when her vehicle struck a utility pole off of Limeport Pike, Lower Milford Township, 2:58 a.m. Aug. 15, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The motorist was northbound approaching Dillingersville Road when the vehicle went off the right shoulder of the road. The motorist was taken by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, for treatment. Macungie Ambulance and Detweiler’s Towing also responded to the scene.
An Allentown motorist was hurt when the sport utility vehicle she was driving rolled over on Allen Street, Upper Milford Township, 9:56 a.m. Aug. 27, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The motorist lost control of the vehicle near the intersection at Chestnut Street and struck a support wire to a utility pole before the vehicle toppled. The motorist was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest campus, for treatment and further evaluation.
An Allentown motorist escaped injury when a power line fell and struck the windshield and roof of his vehicle while along Schantz Road, Lower Macungie Township, 1:42 p.m. June 10, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The motorist was traveling behind a truck when the top of the trailer unit of the truck caught a low hanging power line, pulling the line down. The power line caused minor damage to the vehicle.
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Empty suspected heroin plastic baggies were found in a room in a residence in the 7300 block of Poppy Drive, Lower Macungie Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The incident was reported Sept. 13.
Theft from motor vehicle
A black Sarsilmaz handgun with 15 rounds, valued at $466 and a Smith and Wesson black handgun with 7 rounds, valued at $530, were removed from an unlocked vehicle parked at Holiday Inn Suites, 4325 Hamilton Blvd., Lower Macungie Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The handguns were removed on two separate occasions. The thefts were reported 4:28 p.m. Sept. 4.
Theft by deception
Two residents of the 8900 block of Kings Highway South, Lower Milford Township, were deceived into thinking they won a sweepstakes and sent approximately $84,000 in money orders to a person in California between May 19 and Aug. 24, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville.
DUI
A 61-year-old male, of Alburtis, was arrested Aug. 8 for allegedly driving under the influence after a one-vehicle accident in the 2600 block of Hill Road, Lower Macungie Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville.
