It was a successful day for both the boys and girls as each team went 3-0 on the day with wins over Pleasant Valley, Pocono Mountain East and Pocono Mountain West. It brings each team’s record to 6-3 on the season.
“Nazareth is always a fast course, so it’s a confidence boost at this juncture of the season,” said head coach Dan Benner.
Zeke Colyer (16:26) is 3-for-3 for overall wins in the regular season so far, but there were some other good performances on the day. Abel Veltri continued his strong freshman season finishing 5th in 17:11. The top-five were rounded out with Evan Dempsey (6th – 17:11), Johnny Breslin (11th – 17:40), and Ryder Ault (18th – 18:09).
The girls were once again led by Wes Burkit (7th – 20:39).
“Wes has had a very strong first half of the season and the goal is to duplicate that success in the second half now,” said Benner.
Just like the boys, the girls have had a consistent top-five with Abby Enstrom (9th – 21:00), Olivia Horn (11th – 21:16), Brianna Tyler (19th – 22:16), and Ellie Spencer (21st – 22:34) filling out those spots.
The Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University is next on Friday Oct. 1.
“It is one of the biggest invites in the state and we are looking forward to seeing some of the best runners in the area,” Benner said.
The Kids return to EPC action next Tuesday at Stroudsburg against East Stroudsburg North, East Stroudsburg South, and Stroudsburg.
