Vivienne J. Scarbo

Vivienne J. Scarbo, 99, formerly of North Catasauqua, died Sept. 21, 2021, at her residence at Holy Family Manor, Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late Andrew D. Scarbo.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Cyrus and Ida (Korn) Stein.

She was a 1939 graduate of Allentown High School and a 1943 graduate of Sacred Heart School of Nursing, Allentown.

She was a World War II first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in the European theater.

She was a registered nurse in the operating room and in general duty from 1945 to 1954 for Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. She was the Lehigh County public health officer from 1954 to 1957. She worked for Dr. Kenneth Harvey, of Catasauqua, from 1964 until she retired in 1985.

She was a lifelong member of the former St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church and St. John Fisher Catholic Church of North Catasauqua.

She was a past health officer of North Catasauqua and a past president of the Women Veterans of Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Catasauqua American Legion Post 215. She received the Most Distinguished Award for meritorious service, reflecting the highest ideals of the U.S. Armed Services by Lehigh County, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Office of Veterans Affairs. She was a past president of the Willow Brook Ladies Golf League. She was a Brownie leader in Allentown.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Walsh and her husband Paul and Patricia Lower and her husband Rich Wachter; five grandchildren, Adam Walsh, Ryan Walsh, Regan Linville, Jeneile Guelich and Kyle Beahm; 10 great-grandchildren, Jackson Walsh, Anna Walsh, Katherine Walsh, Margaret Walsh, Andrew Walsh, Henry Walsh, Peter Walsh, Eliana Linville, Landon Beahm and Cora Beahm.
