John F. Fasching

John “Knobby” F. Fasching, 94, of Whitehall, died Sept. 1, 2021. He was the husband of Rosa (Kron- witter) Fasching for 73 years.

Born in Stiles, he was a son of the late John and Hedwig (Kurtz) Fasching.

He was a Lehighton Area High School graduate.

He was a T4 in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Germany from 1945 to 1947.

He retired from The Morning Call after 34 years. He also worked at the Lehighton Evening Leader and the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a longtime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fullerton.

He was a lifetime member of the Fullerton Fire Company.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa and her husband Stephen Strella Jr. of Whitehall; a grandson, Stephen Strella III and his wife Megan and daughters Eve and Cora of Catasauqua; a granddaughter, Jade Lee Glose and her husband Nathan and great-grandson Madden of Coplay; a brother, Richard Fasching and his wife Darlene of Easton; a stepbrother, Wilbur Niehoff and his wife Betty of Lehighton; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Sheila Fasching; two sisters, Freida Langkamer and Hedwig Rex; a brother, William Fasching; and two stepbrothers, Robert Niehoff and Luther Niehoff.
