LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Fall events planned in both boroughs

Cooler temperatures are coming - and that means fun fall events in Catasauqua and North Catasauqua boroughs.

Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association’s annual Fest O’ Fall community street fair celebration will be held noon-5 p.m. Oct. 2.

The event is at a new location - Front Street, between Pine and Willow streets. The rain date is Oct. 3.

Activities include food, music, adult beverages, hayrides, vendors, crafters and a pet parade. For kids, there is face painting, games, crafts and activities, including an obstacle course, fish bowl toss, tic-tac-toe, scarecrow making and much more.

Tickets and cash are needed for different events.

For details, visit HCPA’s Facebook page. For additional information, contact Betsy at 610-533-3633.

North Catasauqua Betterment Committee is hosting its annual Autumnfest event, scheduled for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 10 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St.

The rain date will be Oct. 16.

According to Marc Hillenbrand, one of the committee’s leaders, there will be a number of craft and food vendors this year, and horseback riding will be available.

The traditional food-eating contests will not be held this year.

The Catasauqua and North Catasauqua Halloween parade is set for 7 p.m. Oct. 20.

The rain date is Oct. 27.

The parade will start staging 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot at Sheckler Elementary School, 251 N. 14th St. It will then exit south onto 14th Street, turn right onto Race Street, right on Front Street, right on Arch Street and will end at the North Catasauqua park.

Prizes will be awarded in five categories: community, youth, band/marching, business and judges’ choice.

Entry forms are available on both borough websites and the Annual Catasauqua/North Catasauqua Halloween Parade Facebook page. Entry forms should be sent to halloweenparade@catasauqua.org or dropped off at one of the borough offices.

Catasauqua American Legion Post 215 is hosting a Halloween dance party 6-10 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Post, 330 Second St., Catasauqua.

There will be prizes for the best costume, in addition to door prizes. DJ Retro Productions will provide the entertainment.

Both Catasauqua and North Catasauqua boroughs are holding trick or treat Oct. 30, with a scheduled rain date of Oct. 31.

North Catasauqua Police Department is planning to hold another trunk or treat at the North Catasauqua park. It will be held the same night as trick or treat.

Make sure you also take some time to walk around Catasauqua and enjoy the scarecrows set up to help set the mood for the season.

No matter how you choose to celebrate fall, have fun and be safe!
