Ezra M. “Marty” Carhart III, 89, of Allentown, formerly of Hellertown and Emmaus, died peacefully at home Sept. 18, 2021. He was the husband of Dorothy J. (Masemer) Carhart. They celebrated 66 years of marriage this year. Born in Camden, N.J., he was a son of the late Ezra M. II and Ruth (King) Carhart.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Allentown.
He was a graduate of Bucknell University, earning a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. While at Bucknell, he enjoyed playing soccer. He received his master’s degree from Columbia University.
He worked for many years and retired from Air Products as the director of purchasing. Prior to that he worked as a purchasing agent for Exxon, among other companies. He spent four years in Indonesia with Standard Vacuum Oil as the assistant materials manager.
He served his country in the Army Chemical Corp working as a chemical engineer and was stationed in Ft. Dietrich, Md.
He was a longtime member of the Riverton, N. J. Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Elizabeth Ricci, Marjorie Ann and her husband, Gyuri Hollosy and Barbara; a son, James Andrew and his wife, Lynn; five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother John Stephen King.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., Catasauqua.
