Catasauqua: Churches plan progressive dinner

Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua joins Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church and Salem United Church of Christ for a free progressive dinner Oct. 2.

The event begins with appetizers 5-5:30 p.m. at Presbyterian Church, 210 Pine St. Holy Trinity, 604 Fourth St., will be providing the dinner 5:45-6:30 p.m. Salem UCC, 615 Third St., will be providing the desserts 6:45 p.m.

While this meal is free, donations go toward the shared clergy fund to address individuals and families in need of food, shelter, etc.

Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association’s annual Fest O’ Fall celebration will be held noon-5 p.m. Oct. 2, with a rain date of Oct. 3.

The event will be at a new location on Front Street, between Bridge and Wood streets, to provide more room for activities including food, music, adult beverages, hay rides, vendors, crafters and a pet parade. For kids, there’s face painting, games, crafts and activities, including the obstacle course, fish bowl toss, tic-tac-toe, scarecrow making and much more.

Tickets and cash are needed for different events.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., will be having a half-price sale until Oct. 2.

The bag sale will be Oct. 4-9. This includes all items in the store, unless otherwise marked.

The thrift shop will be closed Oct. 11-13 for cleaning and changeover.

The shop will reopen Oct. 14 with all new clothing for fall and winter.

Regular hours at the shop are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Donations of good, used, clean clothing are welcomed during store hours. Proceeds are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

Catasauqua Garden Club meets 1 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua.

John Drabic will discuss animal garden pests.

Garden Club members will have horticultural and artistic entries in place for judging and admiring. Garden-friendly folks are always welcome.

Orders are due by Oct. 5 for the ongoing Catasauqua High School band and chorus hoagie and sandwich monthly fundraiser. Delivery is expected Oct. 12.

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., is sponsoring a takeout baked ham dinner 4:30-6 p.m. Oct. 16.

Tickets are required and can be reserved by calling Janice at 610-440-0073.

The deadline to order tickets is Oct. 10.

The menu includes baked ham, baked sweet potato, green beans, roll with butter and pumpkin roll.

The cost is by donation at pickup. Proceeds benefit Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering, a faith-based partnership that provides care and hospitality for the homeless in our community.
