Allison “Al” Simmons, 88, died July 13, 2021, peacefully at his home in Emmaus. He was the loving companion of Sandra “Sandi” Kelly. Born in Lehighton, he was the son of the late Edgar Charles and Hanna Florence Simmons.
At a young age he worked for Lincoln Mercury and his love for mechanics led him to work 32 years for Mack Trucks.
He loved hunting, fishing, playing his guitar, making jewelry, tinkering to fix things, mowing the lawn and yard work. He also had a passion for riding motorcycles and rode until he was 85.
For the last 12 years he enjoyed bowling on a senior league and swimming at the YMCA.
He had a kind, gentle, loving spirit, enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh. He is a great loss to his family and deeply missed.
He is survived by his companion; a daughter, Suzanne Tolmie, of California; stepchildren; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; family members. He was predeceased by former wives, Blanche Attrill and Tena Rice.
