Brad Osborne has announced his candidacy for the South Whitehall commissioner two-year term special election.

“I am excited to be on the Nov. 2 ballot due to a recent commissioner resignation,” Osborne wrote Aug. 12. “South Whitehall Township residents came through loud and clear in the May Primary.

“They want their voices to be heard once again. They have rightly been concerned about over development, lack of financial audits, tax increases and a serious lack of transparency threatening our future.

“They want their local government to be aligned with our community needs and desires, and yes, to preserve our quality of life.

“This is a critical time for our township. The decisions made in the next two years will define our community for decades to come.

“I have lived in South Whitehall for 32 years and I’m as much invested in this pressing and urgent need as you are.

“I am proud of the model community we have always been, and will work with my colleagues on the board to reopen our government to the residents and preserve the pleasures of our suburban environment we have always enjoyed.

“I am committed to tackle these issues head-on with passion and conviction. As a former South Whitehall commissioner, I respected property rights and maintained a balanced approach to our community needs and desires without raising your taxes.

“As a Lehigh County commissioner, I helped deliver over $30 million in tax reductions and rebates, while at the same time investing $10 million in farmland preservation.

“This local election is one of the important in recent history, and we can’t leave anything to chance. If you elect me, I will work hard to plan our future together.”
