Northampton Area School District has expanded its means of communication through a new mobile app called Northampton Area SD. The app has been under development since this past winter and came together just in time to launch for the 2021-22 academic school year.
The software will mirror the school district’s main website and will be open to the public with no registration required. The mobile app features school news, events, staff directory, school lunch menus, access to regularly used documents, inclement weather updates, links to the Sapphire portal and the district’s full website. NASD has already begun to utilize the app during the unanticipated two-hour delay Sept. 2. Parents, guardians and students can expect to see the most up-to-date information on this platform.
NASD Director of Technology Kurt Paccio said NASD decided to incorporate mobile technology into its communication methods as new data showed NASD’s website was more frequently accessed through mobile devices than traditional computers. Paccio added it has been one of NASD’s major initiatives to improve communication with parents, guardians, students and the community at large, and the app is the perfect program to bridge this gap.
The development and technology behind the app was a major team contribution from the NASD technology department, with Paccio leading the way. The team also had additional assistance from Superintendent of Schools Joseph Kovalchik.
To download the application, visit the App Store or Google Play on your mobile device, search Northampton Area SD and look for the school’s logo.
