Lounge opens for business
Following the devastating Feb. 2 roof collapse - caused by a storm that dumped 2-plus feet of snow on the area - renovations to the iconic Hampton Lanes bowling alley and adjacent Hammerhead Lounge, 326 Main St., Northampton, are nearing completion, according to Jason K. Lauchnor, general manager.
Originally planned to welcome patrons again in October 2021, the bowling alley’s reopening date has been pushed back to perhaps March 2022. Lauchnor said due to difficulty obtaining steel and other supply chain issues, the bowling alley renovations slowed, delaying the progress.
The Hammerhead Lounge has, however, been fully renovated and welcomed guests Sept. 19 to what Lauchnor called a “soft opening.”
The local Las Vegas Raiders Fan Club, which had been meeting in the lounge before the roof collapse, attended the opening to watch their team play the Pittsburgh Steelers that afternoon. Other patrons helped fill the lounge by watching other football games on the numerous televisions in the establishment.
The Hammerhead Lounge is open Wednesdays through Sundays. Weekday hours are 5 p.m. until closing; Saturday and Sunday hours are noon to closing. The lounge is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
The lounge menu includes appetizers, tacos, quesadillas, chicken wings, burgers, wraps, melts, sandwiches, salads, pizza and hot dogs. All menu items are reasonably priced.
The Raiders team - formerly Oakland, then Los Angeles and now Las Vegas - has a history of grit, determination and resilience in the professional football world. The catastrophic event that befell Hampton Lanes and its return as a viable business is a testament of grit, determination and resilience displayed by Lauchnor’s team.
These qualities were evident at the Hammerhead Lounge opening and will surely be present when the bowling alley opens in early 2022.
