At the Sept. 14 meeting, Coplay Borough Council voted to approve the borough’s annual Halloween parade for Oct. 19, beginning 7 p.m., with no rain date.
A motion to hold trick or treat in the borough 6-8 p.m. Oct. 29, with a rain date of Oct. 30, also carried.
All council members voted to approve the purchase of playground equipment through MRC in the amount of $72,861.55. The equipment will be installed at Saylor Park Playground, and the funds will be from a Local Share Account grant.
Now that the new sanitation truck has arrived, a motion was made to sell the 2000 GMC T8500 garbage truck on Municibid, beginning with the amount of $5,000. This motion was approved unanimously.
The council members approved the purchase and installation of a multi-zone ductless heat pump for the council chambers and the borough office. The cost of this project will be $10,411.
Council granted approval to Reph’s Auto Center for one no-parking sign on South Second Street. As explained at the Sept. 7 workshop meeting, the presence of this sign will allow larger vehicles to be maneuvered into the garage with ease during work hours.
Since the assistant fire chief stepped down in early August, a motion was made to approve Joseph Britt as the assistant fire chief for the Coplay Fire Department. All council members voted in favor of this motion.
Lastly, the council members voted on and approved Ordinance 849, which consists of “amending the Code of Ordinances of the Borough of Coplay, Chapter 20, Solid Waste, of the Codified Ordinances of the Borough of Coplay, amending the municipal solid waste ordinance and adding recycling requirements, and repealing all ordinances inconsistent therewith.”
