Dean’s list is announced

Wilkes University interim Provost Terese Wignot announced the dean’s list for the spring 2021 semester. To be named to the dean’s list, students must obtain a minimum 3.5 grade-point average and carry at least 12 credits.

Oregon State University

Degrees awarded

More than 7,000 students representing all 36 of Oregon’s counties, all 50 states and 73 countries have earned degrees as part of Oregon State University’s Class of 2021. The graduates were celebrated with an in-person, informal processional of graduates through the Corvallis campus to Reser Stadium, followed by brief remarks from OSU leaders June 11. Oregon State University President Emeritus Edward J. Ray gave the commencement address during a June 12 virtual ceremony.

This year’s class includes a record 7,391 graduating students receiving 7,690 degrees, with 271 students receiving two degrees and four who will receive three degrees. They will add to the ranks of Oregon State alumni, which have earned 272,504 degrees over the university’s history. The graduating class includes 1,390 who are the first in their family to earn a college degree; 4,226 Oregon residents; 3,164 nonresident students; and 983 students from other countries. With this graduating class, Oregon State will now have more than 205,000 alumni living and working in all 50 states and more than 125 countries.

Bucknell University

Alphonse graduates

Bucknell University presented degrees to more than 800 graduates at commencement May 23, among them Aldo Alphonse, of Whitehall, who earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration in finance. The university’s 171st commencement took place across three ceremonies spread throughout the day in Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium, allowing for proper social distancing amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Each ceremony honored graduates from Bucknell’s three colleges, with arts and sciences graduates at the first two ceremonies and engineering, Freeman College of Management and master’s students recognized at the third. Dispersed seating on the football field was arranged for the graduates, as well as physically distanced pod seating for family and friends in the stands.

Located in Lewisburg, Bucknell University is a highly selective private liberal arts university that offers majors in the arts, engineering, humanities, management and social and natural sciences, along with broad opportunities outside of class, to its 3,600 undergraduates. Graduate programs are available in select disciplines. Quinnipiac University

Sherwin earns degree

Morgan Sherwin, of Coplay, received a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Quinnipiac University during a commencement ceremony held in May.

Quinnipiac is a private, coeducational, nonsectarian institution located 90 minutes north of New York City and two hours from Boston. The university enrolls 9,715 students in 110 degree programs through its schools of business, communications, education, engineering, health sciences, law, medicine, nursing and the college of arts and sciences. Wagner named to dean’s list

The University of Rhode Island is pleased to announce that Paighton Wagner, of Bath, has been named to the spring 2021 dean’s list. More than 7,000 students were named to the spring 2021 dean’s list, representing nearly all of Rhode Island’s cities and towns, all six New England states, New York and New Jersey and many other states and countries.

To be included on the dean’s list, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades, which are GPA applicable, during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality-point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 or more credits for letter grades, which are GPA applicable, earning at least a 3.30 QPA.

Dean’s list is announced

The dean’s list honor at Lock Haven University recognizes achievement of a scholastic average of 3.50 or higher in at least 12 semester hours of academic work, subject to letter grade evaluation, during the spring 2021 semester. To receive this honor, students must earn a GPA of 3.50 or higher in at least 12 semester hours of course work in the spring 2021 semester. More than 800 students were named. Brand graduates

Emily Brand, of Whitehall, was among the graduates recognized during University of the Sciences’ 200th commencement celebration, a virtual event, held May 26.

Brand graduated summa cum laude with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. She is a member of the women’s cross-country and track and field teams, as well as Alpha Lambda Delta, national honor society of first-year students, and Rho Chi, national honor society of pharmacy.

University of the Sciences has prepared students to be leaders and practitioners in the health care and science fields for nearly 200 years.
