The annual Race to ZERO Rotary event for District 7430 will also offer an Oktoberfest concurrently on the same grounds, as Rotary clubs in the district race to end polio throughout the world.
With only two countries left that still have outbreaks of the poliomyelitis virus, known as polio, the end is within reach.
Due to COVID-19, last year’s race was virtual, yet managed to raise $40,000.
This year’s goal is to beat that number and raise $50,000.
The Mouthful for a Miracle Oktoberfest and 11th annual Yvette M. Palmer Race to ZERO Purple Pinkie 5K Run and 1 plus Mile Fun Walk/Run, 10-Mile Bike Ride will be held Oct. 2.
The run will have some different options, as the course is on the Schnecksville Fairgrounds, Schnecksville.
The course runs down Old Packhouse Road, across a covered bridge, and back up the hill.
Oktoberfest will offer traditional foods, beer, wine and other drinks, as well as a live band, a selfie booth, and other Bier garden activities.
Registration opens at 8 a.m. There is a fee for adults over 21 years to participate in both events. There is also a fee for adults over 21 for the Octoberfest only.
