Lehigh County 4-H Coop Club members chose the Lehigh County Humane Society as the recipient for a food and supply drive.
The small club collected a truckload of items including cat and dog food, cleaning supplies, pet toys, towels, collars, kitty litter, and office supplies at their July 4-H Club meeting.
The items, which were donated to the humane society, were inventoried and estimated to value more than $490.
This was a successful community service activity for this group of young people who love small animals!
The Lehigh County 4-H Coop Club welcomes youth ages 8-18 to join the club to learn about a variety of small animals including rabbits, cats, dogs, poultry and other pets.
Members do not need to have or show an animal.
However, club members do get to interact with animals at many club meetings and learn what they eat, how to keep them healthy, the many uses of animals and even how to train pets.
Come learn about small animals in 4-H, as we start a new 4-H year this fall.
Many educational and fun activities are offered by 4-H in Pennsylvania.
4-H is coordinated by Penn State Cooperative Extension through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
4-H programs are open to all youths regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin or disability.
For more information about 4-H activities, call the 4-H office in Lehigh at 610-391-9840 or email LehighExt@psu.edu.
