After an unexpected shutout loss to Central Catholic last Saturday, the Emmaus football team is back at it this Friday night when they host the Whitehall Zephyrs.
“The important thing this week is to be positive,” said coach Harold Fairclough. “It’s not like we have a bad football team. We just have to get back at it.”
Getting back at it will be test against Whitehall. The Zephyrs are 3-0 and coming off an impressive 30-6 drubbing of Liberty last Friday night. Coach Matt Senneca has his team prepared to make noise in the EPC.
Leading the way on the ground is Nigel Linton, a talented and quick runner gained 144 yards on just 15 carries and scored three touchdowns. Damonte Foreman and Dalton Wickel comprise the rest of the Whitehall rushing team.
The offense is under the direction of Quinn Wentling, who was 13-of-20 for 144 yards against Liberty. His targets include Tommy Buskirk, Ryank Kovalchik, Bryce Bashore, Mike Hernandez and Devin Donatelli.
The defense is anchored by a strong line featuring Zander Wehbey, Joey Hahn and linebacker Dalton Wickel. All three young men are physical and hard hitters. The secondary includes Brayden Bashore and Jack Koher.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at East Penn School District Stadium.
