Liberty’s tennis match against Northampton last Tuesday was rudely interrupted by a brief downpour that dumped enough water on Liberty’s tennis courts to suspend play, so the Hurricanes will host the Konkrete Kids again on Sept. 14 to finish the match.
All singles matches were in second sets, and Liberty’s Sophia Csatari looked to be a winner at three singles against Northampton’s Emma Whitman, having won the first set, 6-3, and gone ahead in the second, 5-0.
Liberty’s Sruti Tekumalla won the first set against Northampton’s Caitlin Stoudt at one singles, 6-3, but is trailing Stoudt in the second, 0-2.
At two singles, Liberty’s Stephanie Zheng defeated Northampton’s Abby Biel in the first set, 6-2, but is also trailing in the second, 1-3.
In doubles play, Liberty’s Ava Sabetti and Xenise Price are leading
Northampton’s Chrissy Andrew and Isabella Pina in four doubles 6-2, 4-3.
Two doubles and three doubles matches had not begun, but slated to face off were Hemani Patel and Elise Kney for Liberty and Olivia Tepes and Isabella Sawartnski for Northampton at two, and Liberty’s Sofia Hortsman and Bianca Justance against Northampton’s Caroline Gray and Rachel Zeitner at three.
