LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Reading to furry friends

A bunch of furry book lovers arrived at the Bethlehem Public Library this summer, for the annual Read to Dogs program. Weather permitting, children were able to read books to the dogs outdoors or indoors. The dogs are therapy dogs, trained to sit quietly while the children read. Reading to dogs helps children develop their reading skills. A display of dog- related books for different reading levels was available, or children could bring their own books from home. Five dogs and their owners visited the Main Library on Church Street Aug. 11. Due to extremely hot temperatures, the dogs met the children indoors.
