Melvin Bernard Phillips, 95, died Aug. 23, 2021. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Jacob and Rose (Kohler) Phillips. He was the husband of Elaine (Cohn) for 70 years.

He was a 1943 Liberty HS and a 1948 Bucknell University graduate.

He was in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines for two years during World War II.

He worked at Phillips Music Store for 32 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Salli J. of Bethlehem and Dr. Jeffrey H. and his wife Joy of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Hayley Phillips of Dallas, Texas; Drs. Andrew and Sanjana Luther-Phillips of New York City, and Alex Phillips and his partner Andy Garden of W. Hollywood, California; two siblings, Shirley Sonnenfeld and Ruth Besser (Dr. William); nephews; and nieces.
