Lester Maurice Stein, 91, of The Atria, died Aug. 18, 2021, at LVHN-Muhlenberg after health issues from heart disease. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Lester M. Sr. and Elaine E. (Erney) Stein. He was the husband of the late Joan D. (Trumbauer) Stein.
He was a William Allen HS graduate. He received an architectural license from the International Correspondence School.
He was self-employed, with offices in Nazareth and Bethlehem. He was employed by Wolf & Hahn, Tilghman Moyer Company. He was a partner of Tretheway & Stein and of Cornerstone Consulting, Engineers & Architectural, Inc. until he retired at age 85. He held architectural licenses in many East Coast states. His architectural work included the former Nazareth Junior High School, renovations to Muhlenberg Medical Center, the baseball field for Easton School District and the Brandywine Visitors Center. He taught drafting at The Pennsylvania State University, Fogelsville campus.
He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, where he held administrative positions and sang in the church choir for many years.
He was a member of the American Institute of Architects, Rotary and Lions clubs. He sang with the MORA chorus.
He is survived by a son, Jeffrey D. and his wife L. Gwen Stein of Danielsville; two daughters, Linda K. and her husband Mark Metzgar of Easton and Jennifer J. of Bethlehem; and five grandchildren, Sebastian, Sienna Sennholz and her husband Matthew, Julia, Nicole and Rocco.
He was predeceased by a sister, Dolores E. Stein.
