To protect against accidental damage of student Chromebooks, WCSD will offer a voluntary technology fee for the 2021-22 school year. The window to pay the technology fee is open through Sept. 15, and the coverage period will run from the date of payment through June 30, 2022.

The technology fee costs $15 and may be paid online using MySchoolBucks.com or by making a cash payment in the main office. Families facing financial hardship should contact the main office to make alternative arrangements.

If the technology fee is paid, the first accident requiring a repair will be covered. If there is a second accident during the same year, this will result in a charge of the cost of the repair to a maximum of $50. If a third accident occurs requiring repair, this will result in the entire cost of the repair to be charged to the student. For any damage determined to be misuse, neglect, intentional damage or lost or stolen device, the cost is the actual cost of repair or replacement of the device, currently $300.

Families who opt out of the technology fee will be responsible for repair or replacement costs for any damage incurred. If the technology fee is not paid, the nonwarranty repair cost will be assumed by the student.
