Orientation day for students in kindergarten, fifth and ninth grades will be Aug. 30. This is such a great way for the students to get used to a new building. It is also a half day.
The first day of school for all other students is Aug. 31. Are they excited? Are you excited? At least it is a nice short week because all schools are closed Sept. 3 and 6 for the Labor Day holiday.
Movie night at Franko Park has been rescheduled. “Raya and the Last Dragon” will be shown at dusk, around 7:15 p.m. Sept. 17. Bring your own chairs and blankets and all park rules apply. Children must be accompanied by an adult and no alcoholic beverages will be allowed. A food truck or two will be on hand for snack purchases.
Salisbury Township is looking for crossing guards for the 2021-2022 school year. If you are interested in this part-time position, visit the Salisbury Township website for information and an application.
Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church will hold its next two services in the grove and/or drive-in style. There will be a Sacrament of Infant Baptism 9 a.m. Aug. 29 and 9 a.m. Sept. 5 there will be a Holy Communion worship. Services will resume in the sanctuary starting Sept. 12.
Salisbury Township yard waste drop off sites are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Franko Farm will be open Aug. 26 and 28. The Devonshire site will be open Aug. 30, Sept. 2 and 4.
