Gallery View: Baum School of Art back with faculty, staff exhibit
The Baum School of Art celebrates its in-person return with the “Faculty & Staff Exhibition,” through Sept. 3, David E. Rodale and Rodale Family Galleries. A “Third Thursday” artists’ reception was 6-8 p.m. Aug. 19.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health restrictions quashed most of The Baum School’s exhibitions in 2020. The last “Faculty & Staff Exhibition” was in 2019.
“This year’s exhibition will include new faculty members, the school’s summer interns, and, of course, returning Baum School favorites,” says Baum School Director of Development and Communications Lauren Faurl.
“We are proud to feature works of art in a variety of media, including painting, fashion, sculpture, pottery, pastel and more,” says Faurl, who has two works in the exhibition.
Among the nearly 40 pieces in the show are three pastels by Jacqueline Meyerson, including “Climbing High,” which depicts a brightly colored pile of carabiners; three stoneware works by Keegan Buck, including “Something to Pour From;” Sienna Sky’s “Summer Apron,” a fashion design, and Amanda Verna’s “Chameleon Tapestry,” acrylic yarn fabric art.
“Under the Pier,” an embroidery on graphite by Claire Boty, is one of her three pieces in the exhibit.
Blair Bromfield’s “Female 1” acrylic and ink nude is among the paintings displayed.
Other art instructors and personnel featured in the show include Nicole Demjan, Bruce Fritzinger, Rosemary Geseck, Emma Kaye, Mellen Reinbold, George Romberger, Annie Soltysiak, Monika Stefany, Emily Strong, Dana Van Horn, and Baum School of Art Executive Director Shannon Fugate.
Strong curated the exhibition.
