Pat’s Pizza enjoying first year as part of Fest
If you want a feast fit for festing, look for Pasta Boulevard at Festplatz and you’ll find Pat’s Pizza and Bistro at Musikfest 2021.
Its Pat’s first year at the fest, which has been a vital part of the Christmas City since 1984.
“I like it – I like the interaction with people,” owner Yianni Kyziridis said of Musikfest Aug. 11, while the afternoon sun did some cooking of its own as temperatures soared well into the 90s.
“We wanted to let Bethlehem know where we are and what we do.”
“It’s our first year and didn’t know what to expect. We have a beautiful booth set up to resemble the restaurant,” Kyziridis said of the eatery he opened at 1426 W. Broad St. in November 2017.
“Everything is homemade from sauces to meatballs,” Kyziridis said of the menu, which spotlights artisan pasta. Pat’s is dishing out some staples from the restaurant, such as the popular Sophia Lauren, a four cheese stuffed pasta with a brandy blush sauce, shrimp and mushrooms.
“We’ve introduced a special of the day for Musikfest, as well as two one-ounce meatballs on a stick, which is more convenient for people to eat as they walk.”
Delicious desserts such as cheesecake cups are also on the bill of fare. Pastas and tomato sauces can be purchased to take home.
Pizza is popular at the restaurant, but is not on the Musikfest menu. “I lot of people have been asking for it, that tells me people like it and it’s in demand. I hope to introduce pizza next year,” said Kyziridis.”
“We stay away from fast food,” Kyziridis added.
Pat’s gave “Mission Impastable” fans to customers to help offset soaring temperatures, featuring coupons on the reverse side that may be redeemed at the Broad St. eatery.
Kyziridis said Pat’s first year as a Musikfest vendor has been a learning experience. “Our capabilities are a lot stronger than I thought to serve crowds.”
“I’d like to thank ArtsQuest for giving me this shot. Everyone we’ve worked with from ArtsQuest has been very helpful,” Kyziridis said.
“We’ll definitely be here next year.”
Pat’s has been an active member of the Bethlehem area, kicking off various fundraisers such as a “Pay It Forward” initiative in March 2020 to help those in need in the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Pat’s also served up 200 free meals to members of the community in need this past Thanksgiving.
