John William Chayka, 66, died on August 10, 2021. Born in Freemansburg, he was a son of the late William J. and Sophie (Kapuscak) Chayka.

He attended Freedom HS, where he played tennis and wrestled. He earned a B.S. in accounting and business management from Allentown College.

He worked in financial services, mostly in the areas of benefits and compensation. He retired as a retirement plan administrator from Ascensus. He was a titled Certified Employee Benefits Specialist, Qualified Plan Administrator and Qualified 401(k) Administrator.

He was a coach for the Freemansburg Bethlehem Township Athletic Association. He was a member of the Heights A.A. He was a photographer.

He is survived by two daughters, Annelise Chayka and her husband Robert Derke; and Allison Chayka; a grandson, Christian Phelan; two sisters, Susan Gates and her husband Clifford and Carol Parker; nieces; and nephews.
