D&L National Heritage Corridor news

St. Luke’s University Health Network, ArtsQuest, and co-sponsor Delaware &Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, added a Musikfest walking challenge to the Get Your Tail on the Trail program. GYTOTT encourages people of all ages and abilities to log 165 miles of activity from May 1 to November 8.

To register and to log activities, visit www. tailonthetrail.org. Participants also can follow @TailontheTrail and @NEPATailontheTrail on Facebook to stay motivated. Miles may be logged while walking from platz to platz along Bethlehem’s North and South sides via the GYTOTT app or website. Log at least 10 miles at these locations between August 6 to 15 and be automatically entered to win two front row tickets for next year’s Main Stage lineup at Musikfest.

GYTOTT activities include walking, running, biking, rolling, hiking, treadmilling, paddling, adventuring, and almost any activity done for more than 10 minutes at a time each day. The challenge is 165 miles because that’s the approximate length of the D&L Trail, which runs from Wilkes-Barre to Bristol, Pennsylvania.

Lehigh Valley–Cedar Crest named #1

For the eighth straight year, Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest was named the 2021-22 the number one hospital in the Lehigh Valley by U.S. News & World Report. It is the only regional hospital ranked in Pennsylvania’s top five hospitals.

It was ranked nationally among America’s Best Hospitals in various medical specialties 23 times since 1996. It earned a “High Performing” (top 10 percent nationally) rating in six adult specialties including: gastroenterology and GI Surgery, geriatrics, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and lung surgery, and urology in 2021-22. It is ranked high performing in 14 common adult procedures and conditions tracked by U.S. News including abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, colon cancer surgery, diabetes, heart attack, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip replacement, kidney failure, knee replacement, lung cancer surgery, stroke and transcatheter aortic valve replacement.

The annual ratings assist patients and their doctors with making informed decisions about where to receive care for common conditions and elective procedures. LVHN’s president and chief executive officer Brian A. Nester, DO, MBA, states “U.S. News & World Report has consistently recognized the work of these dedicated colleagues for more than 20 years, putting what they do on a level with the top providers in the country for the health and safety of our community.”

The rankings will be published in the U.S. News “Best Hospitals 2022” guidebook (ISBN 9781931469975), available for pre-order from the U.S. News Online Store and for purchase at other bookstores on October 5. For more information, visit Best Hospitals and use #BestHospitals on Facebook and Twitter.
