Woman charged in elder abuse case

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin and Whitehall Township Police Chief Michael Marks have announced the arrest of a Whitehall Township woman in an elder abuse case.

According to a news release, around 1:30 p.m. June 17, Whitehall Township police were called to Fellowship Manor, 3000 Fellowship Drive, for a report of an alleged assault that occurred with a 91-year-old resident.

An investigation by police and the DA’s office revealed that, according to a witness, the resident became combative during his care. Julian Rosemarie Bailey, 48, a certified nursing assistant at Fellowship Manor, allegedly struck the resident twice in the head with her foot.

The resident had an injury on the left side of his head, consistent with what the witness observed, according to the news release.

Bailey, 48, was charged Aug. 16 with simple assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree, and harassment, a summary offense. The charges were issued via summons, according to the news release.
