Joan B. Lauffer

Joan B. Lauffer, 90, formerly of Emmaus, died peacefully Aug. 7, 2021, at Fellowship Terrace, Whitehall. She was the wife of the late William G. Lauffer Jr., who died in 2017. She and Bill were high school sweethearts and shared more than 64 years of marriage. Born in New London, Conn., she was the daughter of the former Mayor of Emmaus, the late Fred D. and Anna F. (Hutchins) Balze.

She was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus.

She was completely devoted to raising her three children and did a magnificent job despite her vision challenges. She served as a dedicated volunteer in many capacities, including being a Sunday school teacher and vacation Bible school director and serving on multiple church committees. She was a Girl Scout leader and active member of the League of Women Voters.

She is survived by children, Nancy Anderson, John and Karen; granddaughters, Jamie McCann and her husband, Shane, Janie and Camryn; a great-grandson, Keegan McCann; a great-granddaughter, Callie McCann; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Paul C. and his wife, Beatrice Balze and a sister, Florence and her husband, Floyd Moschini.
