Elsa S. Benninger, 92, of Whitehall, died unexpectedly Aug. 6, 2021, at home. She was the wife of the late Raymond Benninger.

Born in Coplay, she was a daughter of the late Rupert and Stella (Keppel) Hanzl.

She worked at Western Electric for many years. She then worked for many school cafeterias.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was a choir member.

She is survived by a daughter, Cathy and her husband Darin Baus; two grandchildren, Courtney and her husband Joseph Miller and Dillon Baus; three great-grandchildren, Kylie, Joseph and Jocelynn; two sisters, Barbara Fenstemaker and Elizabeth McCarthy; a brother, David Hanzl and his wife Jane; nieces; and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Stella Legath and Elenor Grace; and a brother, Raymond.
