Carl “Carli” J. Mathesz, 96, of Bethlehem, and formerly of Northampton and Fullerton, died Aug. 9, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Leanch) Mathesz.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Michael and Anna (Waller) Mathesz.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a plumber with the Coplay Whitehall Sewer Authority for 19 years, before retiring in 1988.

He is survived by his longtime friend and caregiver, Clara Kinney and family of Bethlehem, with whom he resided; three children, Ronald and his wife Rosie of Palmerton, Larry and his wife Wendy of Whitehall and Valerie Mahr and her husband Philip of Catasauqua; a grandson, Brad Mathesz and his wife Jennifer; a great-grandson, Luke Michael; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Michael; and a sister, Anna Nederostek.
