Parkland Library offering a variety of events for kids
Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, will host a comic book craft and giveaway for kids ages 5 and older 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 14 in the Karen Tamerler Children’s Meeting Room.
Youngsters are invited to drop by for a button maker craft and free comic book while supplies last.
A Teen Dungeon and Dragons Night in-person meeting for students in seventh through 12th grade will be offered 6-8 p.m. Aug. 16 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Room 1 at the library.
The library will host an in-person DIY Greeting Cards event for adults 11 a.m. on Aug. 17 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Room 1.
All materials will be provided while supplies last.
The Page Turners group will meet in person 7 p.m. Aug. 17 to discuss the novel “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
The group will gather in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Room 1 and via Zoom.
Kids in grades six through 12 are invited to join library staff for the Teen Among Us game 6:30 p.m. Aug. 18 via Zoom. Participants will be playing in a group of four to 10 players to complete tasks to find and defeat the impostor before time runs out.
Youngsters in grades five through 12 are invited join library staff for a friendly competition of chess 6-7 p.m. on Aug. 20 via Zoom.
Chef Rob is coming back to the library 7 p.m. Aug. 23 for an “End of Summer Food Festival” on Facebook.
Menu includes West Coast salad with shrimp, avocado, and corn, peach and prosciutto flatbread with goat cheese and basil, and little baby Key lime pies.
Participants must register to receive Chef Rob’s recipes and ingredient list.
The library will host the biweekly Facebook video series “Let’s Talk Books” for adults 10:30 a.m. Aug. 24 to spotlight a new book at the library.
There will be a drop-in color corner for adults from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 25 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Room 1.
Registration is needed to attend Teen Dungeon and Dragon Night, Virtual Teen Among US, Teen Virtual Chess, Cooking with Rob, and DIY Greeting Cards.
