Salisbury schools begin Aug. 30, Aug. 31

The first day of the 2021-2022 school year is right around the corner. Can you believe it? I can’t. Orientation day for students in kindergarten, fifth and ninth grades will be Aug. 30. All other students will begin Aug. 31.

Do you have all your school supplies? If not, the district website can let you know what you need. If you have a middle school student, click on Menu/Salisbury Middle School/Teams. Click on the grade of your student and the supplies they need are listed.

If you have a younger student, click on Menu/Salisbury Elementary School/Grade level/special subject info and supply lists. Everything your student needs in listed by grade.

If that doesn’t work for you, the Salisbury Township School District Project Outreach is here to help. There will be a free school supply event at Salisbury High School 1-3 p.m. Aug. 24. For more information, contact Jill Williams at jwilliams@salisburysd.org.

One last reminder about movie night at Franko Park. “Raya and the Last Dragon” will be shown at dusk, around 8:30 p.m. Aug. 13. Bring your own chairs and blankets and all park rules apply. Children must be accompanied by an adult and no alcoholic beverages will be allowed. A food truck or two is scheduled to be on hand for snack purchases.

Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church is now holding in-person services. Unvaccinated persons are asked to wear a mask and everyone is asked to space out seating between groups. For more information, go to www.jwsunionchurch.org and click on reopening letter.

Salisbury Township yard waste drop off sites are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Franko Farm will be open Aug. 12 and 14. The Devonshire site will be open Aug. 16, 19 and 21. For a complete listing of acceptable items, visit the township website under the heading “Refuse and Recycling.”
