Robert Curcio recognized by Lehigh County as an Unsung Hero

Robert Curcio, who resides in the eastern portion of Salisbury Township, was recently recognized as an unsung hero as part of a Lehigh County program that celebrates older adult community volunteers.

J.R. Reed, executive director of the Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services presented citations to Curcio at his Tioga Street residence July 29.

Curcio joined the Eastern Salisbury Fire Department at the age of 43 and has been with the fire department since that time.

Curcio is a trained truck mechanic and serves as chief engineer with the department. He is responsible for seeing the station’s fire equipment is ready for emergencies at all times. He is also certified as a highly trained firefighter 1, which is a qualification for interior firefighting recognized throughout the country. He is also trained in CPR and is a qualified vehicle rescue technician.

In addition to the county recognition, Curcio was also presented with Pennsylvania senate and house of representatives citations recognizing his longtime volunteer service.
