Olga P. Herb
Olga P. Herb, 98, died July 28, 2021, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
She resided at Sacred Heart by the Creek, Northampton, for the past three years and Ormrod before that.
She was the beloved wife of the late Herman M. Herb for 54 years before his death in November 1996.
Born in Ormrod, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Eva (Kroutjock) Potrako.
During World War II, she worked at a cigar factory and then at numerous factories as a trimmer and presser for more than 20 years before her retirement.
After retirement, she and her husband resided in Hernando, Fla., for about 10 years.
After her husband died, she lived at the Neffs Hotel when her daughter owned it.
She did the hotel’s laundry and was chief inspector, double checking the silverware and tabletops to make sure all was clean.
She could sometimes be seen sweeping the front porch or the gutter off the porch. What an asset.
A faithful member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Northampton, she was a part of the Rosary Society and enjoyed making pierogis for the church.
She loved watching the Eagles and Phillies and was very vocal giving them advice.
She was also an exceptional baker and halupki maker.
She was a member of the Northern Valley Ambulance Corps, Ormrod, and the Friendly ’50s of Northampton.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her survivors include a daughter Louise E., wife of Bruce Stettler, of Schnecksville; son Michael Herb of Hernando; grandchildren Mindy and Tim Herb; grandsons Todd L. and Zane J. Schaffer, both of Slatington; and four great-grandchildren. She was also Gram to Bruce’s two daughters and their four children.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by seven siblings.
Contributions may be made in her memory to the church.
