Burger King?Foundation Scholarships
Students receive scholarships
Area students are among those who received scholarships from restaurant chain BURGER KING®.
GPS Hospitality, a franchisee with nearly 400 BURGER KING® restaurants, recently announced Burger King Foundation scholarships to 270 students in 10 states.
GPS Hospitality has supported 1,388 scholars, totaling nearly $1.4 million in giving since 2013, according to a recent media release.
Lehigh Valley area students received $8,000 in scholarships including:
•Al Colon, Allentown Central Catholic High School
•Mustapha Salau, Parkland High School
•Jewel Levy, Freedom High School
•Alexis White, Easton Area High School
•Ja’Najah Thomas, Liberty High School
•Anna Silva, Easton Area High School
•Kayla Caputo, North Warren Regional School
•Hannah Crouthamel, Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts
In a recent media release the scholarship program was explained as follows:
“Scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors based on their grade point average and the impact the applicants have on their schools and communities through volunteerism and work experience.
“The Burger King Foundation scholarships are a community effort as they are funded completely through guest donations at local restaurants.
“Founded in 2000, the Foundation has awarded more than $48 million in scholarships to over 42,000 students.”
Founded in 2012, GPS Hospitality is a BURGER KING®, Pizza Hut®, and Popeyes® Louisiana Kitchen franchisee, operating more than 475 restaurants in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and West Virginia.
