Pennsylvania State Police, Bethlehem, continue to investigate an Aug. 9 crash that killed an Allentown woman.
According to the police report, the crash happened approximately 12:30 a.m. on Route 22, just west of Route 145, Whitehall Township. The driver of a 2009 Hyundai Sonata, a 42-year-old man from Scranton, was traveling westbound when he reportedly lost control, left the roadway and struck the concrete base of a utility pole.
The passenger in the vehicle, Jessica M. Rivera, 41, of Allentown, was pronounced dead at the scene by Lehigh County Deputy Coroner Rachel Tallarico.
According to an autopsy Aug. 10, Rivera’s cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma. The manner of death was ruled an accident.
The driver was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. An update on his condition was not available at press time.
Route 22 westbound was closed for nearly four hours while state police, along with Troop M Forensics Services Unit and Troop M Collision Analysis Reconstruction Unit, investigated.
