Stone takes oath of office

Trevor Stone was sworn in as a new Northampton Borough Council member. Mayor Thomas Reenock administered the oath of office at the Aug. 5 borough council meeting.

Stone is replacing Robert McHale, who resigned from council June 30.

Prior to the swearing-in ceremony, Stone was asked why he wanted to be a council member. His response - “to better the community. I’ve lived here for 26 years.”

When asked if he has identified a major issue he wants to work on, Stone replied being a councilman may not be an “envious position (to some). I want to listen to the public and try to find resolutions (to challenges).”

Stone works at Hercules Cement Company. He and his wife, Mary, and their children reside on McKeever Lane in the borough.
