The Upper Lehigh Lions Club recently installed officers for the 2021-22 term.
Richard Wisser takes the helm as the new president. Marsha Johnston is first vice president, and Kenneth Zimmerman was chosen as second vice president.
William Rabe will serve as secretary and Kevin Schmidt was named treasurer. Ronald Gabel is the assistant secretary-treasurer.
Other officers include Tom Kern, Lion tamer; Valerie Borman, tail twister; and Marsha Johnston, membership director.
Diana Haines and Larry Penrose will serve one year as directors, and Kathi Smoll and Eugene Wolfgang will have two-year terms.
Ronald Smith is the immediate past president.
President Wisser offered a message for club members and others interested in Lions.
“A new year for the Lions is here, and it appears we are slowly returning to ‘normal,’” Wisser said. “A phrase many used during the beginning of COVID was the ‘new normal.’
“I don’t know about you, but I am ready for the ‘old normal’ we had before March 2020.”
He said it is great to see unmasked smiling faces once again.
The Upper Lehigh Club wants to set up its food trailer as a fundraiser at Parkland High School home football games.
“It is unknown at this time what we will be allowed to do and how many fans will be able to attend,” Wisser said.
He noted the Lions plan to have hoagie sale fundraisers in October and November.
Wisser issued an invitation to men and women to consider membership in the Lions Club.
“As we roll up our sleeves and get back to serving, tell a friend about the Lions and invite them to join us,” Wisser said. “Remember, many hands make light work.”
The Lions offer support to charitable organizations and respond to needs in the community.
