Education foundation golf tourney on Aug. 13

Northwestern Lehigh Educational Foundation is having its annual golf tournament at Olde Homestead Golf Club on Aug. 13. Check-in time is 7:30 a.m.

The fundraiser runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. All proceeds benefit the educational programs in the Northwestern Lehigh School District.

Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli, reminds the community that in these uncertain times, free clothing is available for the entire family. The clothing closet will be open 6-8 p.m. Aug. 12 and 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 14.

New Tripoli Fire Company is selling supporter yard signs. Purchase one for $10 by calling 610-298-8174 ext. 303.

The fire company is also having a drive-through chicken barbecue 3-6 p.m. Aug. 13.

The meal includes half a chicken, baked potato, coleslaw and bottled water.

The Night in the Country celebration is scheduled for Aug. 21. The event will feature the best of the community, food, fun and fundraisers.

After a year of restrictions, it will be good for everyone to enjoy each other’s company.

Jacob’s Church, Jacksonville, Lynn Township, is offering Life Line Screenings on Sept. 17. Life Line will offer affordable, noninvasive and painless health screenings. Register by calling toll free 1-888-653-6441 or text the word “circle” to 797979. Do not call the church.

A package of five screenings to identify risk for stroke, heart disease and other chronic conditions will be offered: carotid artery ultrasound, abdominal aortic aneurysm ultrasound, EKG to identify the presence of atrial fibrillation, ultrasound of the lower legs to look for plaque buildup known as peripheral artery disease and an ultrasound of the shin bone to identify risk for osteoporosis. These five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete.
