Smith Compound Band a hit in Catty

The ever-popular Friday night concerts continue in Catasauqua. Performing July 30 was the regional Smith Compound Band.

The free concerts take place 7-10 p.m. each Friday at the amphitheater at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St. The July 30 concert was sponsored by Daku’s Auto Body.

The current band members are Mike Callahan, Justine Williams, Tracy Smith, Mike Brusko, Jack Wieland and Wendy Meixell.

The group began in 2005 with Tracy Smith and Brett Adoff looking for a band. They wanted something like the Dave Matthews Band sound with a jazzy twist.

Many members of the band have come and gone over the years.

The group has a great following, and Catasauqua was happy to see them there again.

Funding for the park, a 50/50 raffle, remains strong. The winners, Billy and Rosann Paukovits, are longtime Catasauqua friends. They took the money and immediately gave the proceeds to the park fund.
