John P. Gilboy Jr., 70, of Allentown, died July 26, 2021, after a long battle with Waldenstrom lymphoma and amyloidosis. He was the husband of Susan (Steinke) Gilboy for 48 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Pauline (Ruff) and John P. Gilboy Sr.

He graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business and finance from Mount St. Mary’s University, Maryland.

He was, since 1964, a worker, a car dealer and then owner of Gilboy Ford, Whitehall, which his father started in 1953.

He was a member of St. Thomas More Church, Allentown.

He was a past president of Lehigh Valley Auto Association. He was a current member of Lake Winola Cottagers Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John T. and his wife Janine L. of Macungie; a daughter, Taryn E. Gilboy of Whitehall; four grandchildren: Aidan, Nicolas and Keira Gilboy and Gabriel Delgadillo; three siblings, Nancy G. and her husband Dr. Fred Wyman of Maryland, Kevin P. and his wife Mary Beth R. of Narberth and Sharon G. and her husband Raymond Smith of Emmaus; nephews; and a niece.
