The Upper Milford Historical Society will meet 7 p.m. at the township building, 5671 Chestnut St. The program will feature a presentation by Aaron Heckler of his program titled “A Picture Postcard Tour of Upper and Lower Milford townships.”

Aug. 3

The Emmaus Garden Club will meet noon, at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3002 N. Second St., Emmaus. The program will be “Edible Landscapes” presented by PSU master gardener John Drabic. This talk goes beyond the normal fruits and vegetables and discusses other edibles in the landscape like parts of ferns, flowers and shrubs that you may not have thought about adding to your table fare in the past. The Emmaus Police Department, 400 W. Jubilee St., invites the public to come out and have some fun as they celebrate National Night Out with an open house 6 to 8 p.m. The event will feature a K-9 demonstration (Sgt. Murante and his partner Ronnie), a dunk tank (dunk the chief of police, other officers and borough council members), tunes played by DJ Dutch and an open house at the police department building. The Lehigh Valley Phantoms mascot meLVin will make an appearance 6 to 6:30 p.m. The Emmaus Fire Department’s new fire truck, the Emmaus ambulance and police vehicles will be on display. Attendees can purchase hot dogs from Good Dogs Hot Dogs and lemonade from the Macungie Mountain Herb Farm and a cold treat from Rita’s. Members of the Emmaus Arts Commission, the Emmaus Public Library and the Lehigh County Drug Task Force will also be present. For information, visit borough.emmaus.pa.us.

National Night Out will be held 5-8 p.m. at Salisbury Middle School. Come out and meet your local police officers, firefighters and emergency personnel. There will be basket raffles, emergency vehicles to check out, music, face painting, a dunk tank and many more activities. If you are hungry, Take a Taco, Wow Wagon, Queen V Wraps, Kona Ice and more will be available for purchase. If you are interested in donating to the basket raffle, email Corp. Tunes in The Triangle, 6-8 p.m., Tim Harakal, Emmaus Triangle.

Movie night at Franko Farm Park, Salisbury Township. “Raya and the Last Dragon” will be shown at dusk, around 8:45 p.m. Bring your own chairs and blankets and all park rules apply. Children must be accompanied by an adult and no alcoholic beverages will be allowed. A food truck or two will be available for snack purchases.

Aug. 14

Family movie night at Emmaus Community Park, 8:30 p.m., “Field of Dreams.”

The 1803 House will be open for tours in participation with “Lehigh Valley Passport to History Weekend,” noon to 4 p.m. Also Aug. 15. The 1803 House will feature candle making, a scavenger hunt, house tours and root beer floats in an 1803 House commemorative mug. Volunteers will share their new herb garden along with colonial usage and remedies of each herb.

The 69th annual Vera Cruz Homecoming will be held noon to 8 p.m. at Mystic Chain Park, Main Road East, Vera Cruz, The event will feature music performances by the Rehrig Brothers and The Large Flowerheads, a cakewalk, food and beverages. A community homecoming church service will be held 9 a.m. at Vera Cruz Evangelical Congregation Church, 5501 Vera Cruz Road.

First annual Alburtis Sportmen’s Flea Market 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Alburtis Rod and Gun Club, 3818 Gun Club Road, Alburtis. The market will feature new and used fishing, hunting and trapping equipment as well as collectibles and antiques. Church of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ will celebrate its 50th anniversary commemorating the current church building at 135 Quarry Road. A 10:30 a.m. special worship service will be followed by a cornerstone ceremony, a luncheon and a presentation on the architecture and symbolism used in the church. Sept. 17

Chance Basket Raffle at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury, 1707 Church Road, Allentown, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Also 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 18.
