LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Wanderers falls

The Wanderers trek in the Regional tournament came to an end over the weekend with a loss to a familiar foe.

Northampton topped the Wanderers 13-3 in the elimination bracket to end their run.

After beating Northampton for the NORCO title, falling to them in regionals might be a tough pill to swallow but head coach Dwight Pulieri knew it would be a battle.

“Losing to anyone in an elimination game hurts,” Pulieri said, “but at least a team in our league is still alive and we wish them the best.”

Northampton would eventually lose to West Lawn 12-2.

The Wanderers started the tourney off with a 4-0 victory over Norgwyn to advance, but then fell to Norchester over the weekend 3-0 in a game Pulieri felt like they outplayed them.

“The Norchester loss was a tough one because we out hit them, we out fielded them and the one bad pitch our pitcher threw ended up in a home run,” he said. “They only had two or three hits. We definitely out played them. We must have left 10 men on base in the first four innings. We just didn’t get the clutch hit.”

The run for this team comes to an end after dominating the regular season and NORCO playoffs, but ultimately their sixth contest of the season against Northampton proved to be their kryptonite.

“That’s baseball sometimes,” Pulieri said. “The last time we made a run to the final four of regionals was two years ago. Playing a team that many times in a year is tough but we wish them the best.”
