Robert L. Warmkessel

Robert L. Warmkessel, 90, of Bethlehem, died July 4, 2021, in his home. He was the husband of the late Shirley J. (Steckel) Warmkessel. Born in Lower Macungie Township, he was the son of the late Ellis F. and Alda A. (Labenberg) Warmkessel. He was a 1949 graduate of the former South Whitehall High School. He earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts in 1953 at Muhlenberg College.

He was in the U.S. Army Signal Corp during the Korean War era.

He was a manager of salary payroll for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 30 years before retiring in 1985. From 1985 to 1993, he was an office clerk at E.F. Laudenslager Inc., Orefield.

He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Cedar Church, Cetronia,where he taught adult Bible classes for 25 years, served multiple terms on the church council and was the former financial secretary.

He was inducted into the Allentown District Bowling Hall of Fame and was a former president of the Allentown Area, U.S.B.C. for 10 years. He was a Scout Master of Troop # 29, Cetronia, and a former Assistant Scout Master of Troop # 57, Neffs.

He is survived by three children, Kathy L. Armellino (Maurice) and Jerry A. Warmkessel (Gwen), all of of Allentown, and Debbie A. Haas (George) of Bethlehem; eight grandchildren, Andew Armellino (Kayleen), LeeAnn Armellino, Joseph Warmkessel, Gregory Warmkessel (Kurstin), Jeremy Haas, Thomas Armellino, Lisa Warmkessel and Amanda Haas (Jon); two great-grandchildren, Lucas A. Armellino and Autumn M. Armellino; a sister, Donna L. Schwartz (Thomas) of Mt. Lookout, West Virginia.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Marc Armellino; and two sisters, Jean M. Sherer and Adele R. Walbert.
