Schnecksville Fair winners Hint of Peach Apple Pie

Pie Crust:

4 cups flour

1 egg, beaten

1 Tbsp. sugar

½ Tbsp. vinegar

1½ tsp. salt

½ cup water

½ Tbsp. vanilla

1½ cups Crisco shortening (butter flavor)

In large bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt.

Cut in Crisco.

Mix together egg, vinegar, vanilla and water.

Add to flour mixture.

Makes 3 pie crusts.

Filling:

1 cup sugar

¼ cup corn starch

2 Tbsp. butter

2 tsp. cinnamon

¼ cup apple cider

4 cups PA Grown apples, peeled and sliced

2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced

Mix together sugar, corn starch, apple cider, and cinnamon.

Gently toss apples and peaches until coated.

Pour into unbaked pie shell and top with butter.

Crumbs:

½ cup brown sugar or white sugar

½ cup flour

¼ cup butter

½ cup oatmeal

½ cup walnuts

Mix together sugar, oatmeal, flour and nuts.

Cut in butter.

Sprinkle over fruit filling mixture.

Bake 375 for 45-55 minutes. Garnish as desired.
