Robert L. Warmkessel
Robert L. Warmkessel, 90, of Bethlehem, died peacefully July 4, 2021, in his home.
He was the husband of the late Shirley J. (Steckel) Warmkessel.
Born May 3, 1931, in Lower Macungie Township, he was the son of the late Ellis F. and Alda A. (Labenberg) Warmkessel.
A 1949 graduate of the former South Whitehall High School and a 1953 graduate of Muhlenberg College with Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal arts, he faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corp during the Korean War era.
He was the manager of salary payroll for the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 30 years before retiring in 1985.
From 1985-93, he was an office clerk at E.F. Laudenslager Inc., Orefield.
Active in the life of his church, he was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Cedar Church, Cetronia, where he taught adult Bible classes for 25 years, served multiple terms on the church council, and was the former financial secretary.
An avid bowler, he was inducted into the Allentown District Bowling Hall of Fame and was former president of the Allentown Area, U.S.B.C. for 10 years.
He also served as Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 29, Cetronia, and former Assistant Scout Master of Troop 57, Neffs.
His survivors include children Kathy L. Armellino (Maurice) of Allentown, Jerry A. Warmkessel (Gwen) of Allentown, Debbie A. Haas (George) of Bethlehem; grandchildren Andrew Armellino (Kayleen), LeeAnn Armellino, Joseph Warmkessel, Gregory Warmkessel (Kurstin), Jeremy Haas, Thomas Armellino, Lisa Warmkessel and Amanda Haas (Jon); great-grandchildren, Lucas A. Armellino and Autumn M. Armellino; and sister Donna L. Schwartz (Thomas) of Mt. Lookout, W.Va.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Marc Armellino, and sisters Jean M. Sherer and Adele R. Walbert.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. July 9 at Cedar Church, 3419 Broadway, Cetronia, with the Rev. Candi L. Cain-Borgman officiating.
Family and friends may pay their respects 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, and 9:30-10:20 a.m. Friday in the church. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Cedar Union Cemetery, adjacent to the church.
