Moore sits in second
The Moore Township Connie Mack team now sits at 13-2 overall, and is two games out of first place. Moore continues to sit in second place as Northwest Bethlehem is 16-0.
Moore had some interesting games last week, as head coach Jarad Haupt described them.
First, the team took a 5-1 lead over South Parkland but eventually the lead was erased and the team trailed 7-5 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. But Moore didn’t quit and ended up walking off with a win in the bottom of the inning to take an 8-7 final.
Moore also had a tight battle with Nazareth before winning the game 3-1.
The games were key as both Nazareth and South Parkland sit in the top-third of the standings, as of early this week, and both look to be playoff teams as the season winds down.
On Monday, the team fell to top-seed Northwest Bethlehem, 15-5.
“We lost to one-seed Northwest Bethlehem. They put a good beating on us, but we have a long week and need to refocus quickly,” Haupt said.
Moore actually led in the game 4-1, but lost the lead in the third inning and couldn’t rebound.
“I’m still so proud of these boys,” Haupt said. “Fifteen games into the season and they put themselves in a great position coming into our most difficult week of the season. [Tuesday] we head to another tough one at Franklin Township who is right behind us in the standings.
“We will continue to battle and play Moore Township baseball.”
