Mark Reitz, 89, of Egypt, died June 26, 2021, at Whitehall Manor. He was the husband of Doris J. (Handwerk) Reitz for 66 years.

Born in Lynnport, he was a son of the late Allen and Hazel (Snyder) Reitz.

He was educated at Snyder’s one-room schoolhouse, Slatington High School and Lehigh University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.

He was in the U.S. Army for two years.

He was employed by Lehigh Portland Cement Company for 40 years.

He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, where he was on the church council.

He was a member of the Retired Employees of Lehigh. He was a former member of the Whitehall Township Zoning Board and the Whitehall Township Planning Commission. He was a member of Greenleaf Lodge 561 F&AM.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert and his wife Carol Jo of Whitehall and Dale and his wife Eileen of Scottsdale, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Adam, Nathan, Ali Jo, Matthew and Natalie; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Weida and Diane and her husband Frank Wendling; and a brother, Richard and his wife Charlotte.
