Community Night Out set for July 14

North Catasauqua is planning its first Community Night Out event 5-9 p.m. July 14 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St.

This event is held by North Catasauqua Police Association, the borough’s park and recreation committee and North Catasauqua police and fire departments.

“North Catasauqua Community Night Out aims to build relationships between the members of our community, businesses, law enforcement and first responders,” according to the event flier.

Additionally, there will be local businesses, assisting agencies and other organizations present to share information, education and community resources.

According to Patrolman Brian Douglas, North Catasauqua police community relations officer, other participating entities include the U.S. Army, Marine Corp, National Guard and Air Force.

The Pennsylvania State Police will be attending with its horse division and aviation unit for a 6 p.m. flyover. Additional law enforcement and first responder agencies from the Lehigh Valley will also attend.

Some of the other local organizations and community partners include Mission BBQ, K-9 Kop Project, Belvor Restorations, Harley Davidson and more.

There will also be residents who have their own crafting and do-it-yourself businesses taking part, according to Douglas.

The event will feature games, activities, music, food, raffles, a K-9 demonstration, vehicle extrication demonstration, helicopter flyover, DUI simulator and more. Douglas reported there will be a dunk tank, bounce houses and a deejay.

In a post shared by Catasauqua Area School District on its Facebook and website, and attributed to the North Catasauqua Police Department, “This event is being created and organized to bring our community and residents together to make new relationships and friends and to strengthen the relationship between local and state law enforcement and our community.”

The post adds that the nation has recently faced a challenging time with the COVID-19 pandemic, but organizers are excited to be getting back to enjoying community events together with the residents.

“This family fun-filled event will be a great time to show our community and residents a positive and personable side of law enforcement and emergency response agencies that is not always seen nor portrayed to the public,” the post continues.

This event will be an opportunity for community members to get to know their law enforcement members, as well as many of the local businesses and organizations.
